A RETURN TO MAKING

After ten years at The World of Interiors magazine, Maria left to look after her two young daughters. One day, she came across the story of Virginia Lee Burton and the Folly Cove Designers, and inspiration struck.

After fifteen years away from drawing, Maria picked up a pencil again. She began experimenting with lino printing and natural dyes, turning the family dining table and garden into her studio. In the evenings, once the children were asleep, she would draw, print and rediscover the simple pleasure of making things by hand.

She began by making things she wanted for her own home — fabrics, tiles and patterns inspired by her Greek and English heritage, the natural world and the things around her.

What started at the dining table has since grown into a collection of designs and objects for the home, each beginning with Maria's own hand.

Today she works from her little potting shed studio in the garden, often visited by her chickens.

Maria follows the same instinct today as she always has: to make things she loves, in the hope that others will love living with them too.
